Update 24 - Stretch Goal 3 - Progress Report 2 (Structure Redesign Upcoming)
about 4 years ago – Tue, Feb 11, 2020 at 08:55:25 PM

Hello Backers!

Time for our next progress update on our final stretch goal set. This one is going to have a similar set up to the Cursed Tower by including a structure with its own elevated terrain platform. The test printing has finally been completed on the platform terrain piece!

I will be continuing work on the structure that sits atop this piece in the coming week or two. The current design for the structure I created did not meet my standards, and will be changed in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, I was very unhappy with its final design, and have decided to begin again from scratch with a new structure I have sketched up. I really want this final one to stand out and be a nice centerpiece similar to the Cursed Tower.

The platform for it above, however, will remain unchanged and the new design will be built into the same footprint and size specifications as the other structure. It is my hope that it works out in a way that will not cause any extended delays as I am still planning the redesigned portion.

Thank you all for your support and patience! I am super excited to deliver this final piece!

Sincerely,

Michael

Ancient Neolithic Ruins - Stretch Goal 3 Progress Report
about 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2020 at 11:59:53 PM

Hello Backers!

The Tikal Temple pyramid set has been delivered! You should have received your delivery emails, but if you haven't, be sure to go back into your download pages from your original delivery. It will be there waiting for you in Backerkit!

I have been hard at work on all these stretch goal sets, and have finally finished my walkway and some scatter and much more for stretch goal 3!

Scatter Stone Pack

First up is the scatter pack; there was a request for neolithic stones, which I made to be printed in multiples. In order to make these, I have create a new type or rock texture and they are less jagged than what was seen in the spider and cavern sets.

Up next is the large multi-piece build similar to the Cursed Tower's mountain, and it is still in the process of test printing. It is going to take several days yet before I have photos of the finished print for this platform.

This one uses a totally new brick style, and I have included some new gargoyle heads with torch stands at the sides. Everything was made individually for this set to use the new texturing style for the stones, so it will have a much different feel than any of the core set models, but it will still fit in nicely I think.

This is another mega sized piece similar to the Cursed Tower's mountain, and is still a work in progress - Also, this is not a finished design. I plan on adding a modular piece up top to this platform for the final set! Hope you like how it is coming together!

Thank you all for your support and patience. I am working really hard to get these finished and delivered as soon as possible! It may be another week or so until I have another update; but I am on track to meet that March deadline for completing all stretch goal deliveries and not keep you waiting too much longer!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Michael

Update 22 - Temple of Tikal Progress Report 2
about 4 years ago – Thu, Jan 30, 2020 at 10:21:32 PM

Hello Backers!

Thank you so much for your suggestions on the last project update! The temple has been slightly redesigned to accommodate some new features, and I have added the request for an altar up top.

Instead of having the temple permanently joined up top as in the original design, it is now modular. So you can also just remove the top portion and have it open!

I have also scaled the model down slightly, as I was able to do so without having to worry about some design issues with the temple in that spot. This should help expedite print times for this one.

However, for a really epic sized pyramid, feel free to scale up about 15 percent and you'll get a super large piece with some longer printing time. (It will still fit the Ender 3 bed scaled up)

Even at its current size, it still is more than large enough for 28 mm and the bases will clear the temple door.

Altar slab can be printed and added to the top of the Tikal Pyramid.

Also, one of the requests was to add an sacrificial altar slab up top, and I have done just that with some character added!

Test prints have finished on the main parts and the details are coming in nicely with the Ender 3

All of the stone details and textures are really showing up very nicely with the Ender 3 at stock cura settings and 20 percent infill!

The pyramid will be composed of four individual parts like the one shown above.

I am hoping to get the STLs out as soon as possible with just a few tests remaining. There may be a few days delay (sometime into next week for delivery), but I will send email notifications out when the files are sent.

Your suggestions really added a lot to this piece! I really like that altar and think it is a highlight on this one.

Thank you very much! I will have more to share soon.

Sincerely,

Michael

Update 21 - The Second Stretch Goal - Progress Report
about 4 years ago – Tue, Jan 28, 2020 at 02:27:43 AM

Hello Backers!

I've been experimenting with different things over the past few weeks, and have made a lot of progress on our second stretch goal unlock. The Tikal Temple piece is a four stair/ four sided MesoAmerican pyramid with a temple structure up top.

Incorporating more elevation was one backer request, so I did my best to make the pyramid steep and retain some area for play in the center. Hope you like the design - there is some geometric influence from the dwarves in this one, as well as new texturing styles and some hieroglyphs!

As for size, the pyramid is also a bit on the larger scale and similar to the library. Each part is roughly 170 mm per piece. If you want a really large scale pyramid for 28 mm play, you can scale the model up to 115 percent and it will still be in the 200 mm range on each axis!

As for the third upcoming stretch goal, I will continue to try to incorporate some other backer ideas as well.  In my sketch book, and rough layout,  I have a small walkway planned out already, which will take players to another ruined area.

Thank you all for your patience! I am working super hard to get everything sent as soon as possible, so hopefully I will be able to have this in your inboxes by the end of this week!

Sincerely,

Michael

Update 20 - Library Distribution, ArchangelDesign3D.com Live, and Backerkit options
about 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 24, 2020 at 05:26:23 PM

Hello Backers!

Check your inboxes today for your first stretch goal set! The Lost Library pieces should be available for direct download. Also as a side note, due to the higher print times with the Cursed Tower, a request was made to split the base into two sections.

A strategically cut STL of the Cursed Tower base split into two parts has been sent. However, it is still recommended to print the original part if possible, as the quality will be better due to the intricacy of the arch and Gargoyle piece.

For those who would like access to the Lost Library, the entire stretch goal set is also available as an add-on bonus in the Backerkit Preorder Store Front.

And some exciting news, The Archangel Design 3D store is officially live once again! Check it out at https://archangeldesign3d.com. The stretch goal set will be available direct as well.

All of the old Kickstarter sets are available on ArchangelDesign3d.com in some form, including Forsaken Lands pieces individually at full price. However, the entire set is still available through Backerkit for a limited time at the Kickstarter pledge level!

Thank you all! Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you have trouble with anything in Backerkit or the online store. It just went live today, so who knows if there are any bugs yet. I will be working on the jungle ruins this week coming up, and will have more to share very soon!

Sincerely,

Michael
